Have you thought about Gogol? Maybe The Nose? A bit crazy but what a fantastic imagination! At any rate I see you just Dropped the Gift of the Magi... A perfect story in every way, especially now. Can't wait to hear you read it.
I commented earlier about the rest of the post but just now got back to listen to the entire story, The Kiss, and am so glad to now be acquainted with Chekhov in this manner, and his sense of the Russian landscape and people of this generation and place and the sad hopefulness of the protagonist and denouement at the end. Thanks for creating this opportunity for me. I would not have done it on my own at this stage with so many other commitments closer to the front of my lists. Excellent.
I love the stories yet I find myself asking, would it be better if I could read along with you? The written text to accompany your voice would add to the pleasure.
Excellent!
Thank you, this is one of my favorites recorded thus far.

I’ve just started reading it…oh my, no, I have not read this one before, I would certainly have remembered! Interested to see where this one goes.
I have “The Cloak” on my list for future…I don’t think I’ve read “The Nose”…or at least it was so long ago I don’t remember…I’ll check it out!
This was lovely. Thank you and Chekov too, of course!

Happily, all of my readings are in the public domain. A quick search on Project Gutenberg will land you at the original text. "The Kiss" is from this collection: https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/13413/pg13413-images.html
This wonderful short story was such a welcome companion on my daily walk!
Fantastic :)
What a treat!
Truly! This is one of my favorites.
